Discover Kumaon
HillNesst sits at the heart of Uttarakhand's most beloved destinations. Everything is within easy reach.
Kainchi Dham
The legendary ashram of Baba Neem Karoli Ji β a deeply sacred site known across the world and revered by millions. Set amidst towering deodar trees along the Kosi river, Kainchi Dham is a place of profound peace and spiritual energy.
Famous also for being visited by notable figures including Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who sought Baba Neem Karoli's wisdom. The temple feast (bhandara) in June draws thousands of devotees.
Visit early morning (6β8 AM) for the most peaceful darshan experience before crowds arrive. The temple is open daily; the June 15 bhandara is unmissable if your trip coincides.
Bhimtal Lake
Larger and less crowded than Nainital, Bhimtal is a tranquil lake surrounded by forested hills. A unique island in the centre of the lake houses an aquarium β one of the only such structures in India.
Enjoy boating, kayaking, birdwatching, and lakeside walks. The surrounding forest trails are excellent for nature walks and spotting Himalayan birds.
Sunrise at Bhimtal is especially beautiful. Arrive by 6:30 AM, and the entire lake is yours to explore before the day trippers arrive. The fish market nearby serves excellent fresh catch for lunch.
Nainital β The Lake City
The crown jewel of the Kumaon hills β Nainital is built around the stunning emerald Naini Lake, with the sacred Naina Devi temple at its northern shore. Mall Road, boat rides, Cable Car, and Snow View Point make it Uttarakhand's most visited hill station.
Best visited on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. The Tiffin Top and Dorothy Seat viewpoints offer incredible panoramas of the Himalayan ranges on clear days.
Stay at HillNesst and drive to Nainital just for the day β you'll return to quiet mountain serenity instead of the town's noisy hotels. Ideal for families wanting the best of both worlds.
Sattal β Seven Lakes
A complex of seven pristine interconnected lakes hidden within an oak and rhododendron forest. Sattal is one of the least commercialised and most beautiful natural sites in the Kumaon Himalayas.
Known for extraordinary birdlife β over 500 species have been recorded here. Kayaking, cycling, forest walks, and the serene Christian Ashram are highlights of any visit.
Birdwatching at Sattal is best OctoberβMarch. The Sat Tal Ashram serves a simple, peaceful lunch. Rent a kayak at Nal-damayanti Tal for an unforgettable hour on the water.
